KU Jayhawks football vs. Iowa State: Prediction, time, TV info for Saturday’s game
After a big win against Oklahoma, the Kansas Jayhawks football team faces Iowa State on the road Saturday night at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa.
The No. 22 Jayhawks (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) haven’t won in Ames since 2008. Meanwhile, the Cyclones (5-3, 4-1) defeated Baylor 30-18 last Saturday.
Let’s break down this weekend’s matchup …
Game details
Kickoff: 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4
Where: Jack Trice Stadium (Ames, Iowa)
TV: ESPN
Radio: Jayhawk Radio Network; WHB (810) in Kansas City
Betting Line: Iowa State is a 2.5-point favorite.
Prediction
Under Kansas coach Lance Leipold, the Jayhawks haven’t been the best in following up after a big win. This is something of which Leipold is well aware.
“Big win, they earned it, but our ability to play well after big wins — we need to play better, I think, after some of these wins,” Leipold said. “And how do we want to approach it? What do they want to do? They have an opportunity. We have to go on the road and play a first-place team.”
Playing in Ames in front of a sold-out Jack Trice Stadium will be a challenge for KU. The Jayhawks need to get a big lead early, control the clock and limit turnovers.
Kansas’ defense is third in the nation in defensive turnovers and Iowa State QB Rocco Becht is prone to making mistakes — he has thrown six interceptions this season.
On the flip side, the Jayhawks’ offense needs to rely on using their run game and limiting QB Jason Bean’s mistakes.
I think Kansas pulls out a close one here.
Prediction: Kansas 31, Iowa State 27
Shreyas’ pick to cover: Kansas (+2.5)
Shreyas’ record: 6-2
Shreyas’ record against the spread: 3-5
