Former Blue Valley North football/baseball standout Noah Barber agreed to sign a post-draft MLB free-agent contract with the Kansas City Royals on Friday, the Royals player development Twitter account announced.

The signing is contingent on Barber passing a physical.

Barber, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound defensive back in football and outfielder in baseball, had originally planned on playing football at the University of Kansas in 2023 as a nonscholarship player from the recruiting class of 2023.

“Good luck to our guy @NoahBarber59 who has signed as an undrafted free agent with the @Royals,” read a Twitter post from the KU football Twitter account on Friday.

Barber retweeted that post.

He finished the 2022 high school football season with four interceptions, including a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown. He had four pass breakups and a fumble recovery and earned honorable mention all-Eastern Kansas League.

His dad, Shawn, was a linebacker for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Washington Redskins (now Commanders).
