Back spasms to prevent KU basketball’s Kevin McCullar from starting Big 12 quarterfinal

Kansas senior guard Kevin McCullar was not included on the list of official starters for Thursday’s Big 12 quarterfinal contest between No. 3-ranked Kansas and West Virginia, set for a 2 p.m. start at T-Mobile Center.

KU coach Bill Self revealed on Wednesday that McCullar was suffering from back spasms.

Junior guard Joseph Yesufu was listed as the starter.

McCullar, a regular starter, has averaged 11.1 points a game in his senior season at Kansas. Yesufu has averaged 3.7 points a game in 30 games. He averages 11.8 minutes a game.
