Kansas women’s basketball lands two on All-Big 12 first team
The Kansas women’s basketball team was well-represented as the 2022-23 All-Big 12 teams and conference honors were released Monday.
Taiyanna Jackson and Zakiyah Franklin made All-Big 12 first team, while Holly Kersgieter received honorable mention.
Franklin picks up her third Big 12 honor after averaging 15.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in the regular season.
Jackson also made the Big 12 All-Defensive Team and was a unanimous selection for both honors. She averaged 15.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in the regular season.
“We are grateful for the recognition our players have received from the Big 12 coaches,” Kansas coach Brandon Schneider in a release. “This is a historical accomplishment for Taiyanna and Zakiyah, as our program has never had two players selected to the All-Big 12 first team in the same season. It is a testament to their hard work and dedication to improvement, and hopefully more evidence of our program’s growth and progress.”
Kersgieter is the third scoring option behind Jackson and Franklin, averaging 13.9 points and 6.3 assists per game this season.
This is the sixth time that KU has had three or more players selected for the All-Big 12 teams.
