KU to have welcome home party Wednesday for gold medalist basketball team

After winning gold at the World University Games on Monday, KU is inviting fans to Hoglund Ballpark on Wednesday night to welcome its basketball team back to Lawrence.

Doors for the event, KU announced in a release, will open at 6 p.m. with the team and staff expected to arrive at 7 p.m. Kansas coach Bill Self and a few players are expected to address the crowd. KU said that attendees for the event are encouraged to park in lot 112, south of the baseball stadium, behind the Hoglund Ballpark scoreboard.

Kansas, which was representing the United States in Gwangju, South Korea, claimed gold after defeating Germany 84-77 in double overtime on Monday morning.
