Kansas Jayhawks remain in top five in latest AP Poll ... Mizzou, K-State receive votes
The Kansas men’s basketball team kept its No. 4 spot in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 following Thursday’s 68-54 victory over Harvard at Allen Fieldhouse.
The Jayhawks (11-1), who went 1-0 last week, will begin Big 12 Conference play Saturday against Oklahoma State (1 p.m., Allen Fieldhouse).
Missouri (11-1) and Kansas State (11-1) both received mention in the “others receiving votes” category. Missouri on Monday was the 32nd team mentioned overall and K-State was No. 39. The Tigers blew out previously-ranked Illinois in St. Louis last week.
The top three slots remained the same. No. 1 Purdue (12-0) received 40 first-place votes. No. 2 UConn received 20 first-place votes. No. 3 Houston was followed by KU (4), Arizona (5), Texas (6), Tennessee (7), Alabama (8), Arkansas (9) and Gonzaga (10) in the top 10.
UCLA checked in at No. 11, followed by Baylor (12), Virginia (13), Miami (14), Wisconsin (15), Indiana (16), Duke (17), TCU (18), Kentucky (19) and Auburn (20) in the top 20.
Rounding out the top 25 were Mississippi State (21), New Mexico (22), Xavier (23), West Virginia (24) and North Carolina (25). Iowa State and Texas Tech also were in the others receiving votes category.
