Despite first loss, KU basketball remains in top 10 of college basketball rankings
Kansas, which lost to Tennessee in Friday’s finals of the Battle 4 Atlantis, has dropped six spots to No. 9 in this week’s Associated Press men’s basketball rankings.
Houston (6-0) has taken over the top spot, moving up from No. 2. Former No. 1 North Carolina lost two games last week and has fallen to No. 18.
Texas (5-0) received eight first-place votes to Houston’s 45 and is No. 2, followed by No. 3 Virginia (5-0), which had two first-place votes. Arizona (6-0) is No. 4, followed by No. 5 Purdue (6-0), which had eight votes for first.
Baylor is No. 6, followed by Creighton (7), UConn (8), KU (9), Indiana (10), Arkansas (11), Alabama (12), Tennessee (13), Gonzaga (14) and Auburn (15) to round out the top 15.
Schools 16-25: Illinois, Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Michigan State, UCLA, Maryland, Iowa State, San Diego State and Ohio State.
Missouri received two votes and Kansas State earned one in the others-receiving-votes category. So Missouri effectively checks in at No. 38 and Kansas State is in at No. 40.
