Coaches pick KU to win Big 12 in preseason basketball poll
Is this the year for 11 straight? The Big 12 coaches think so ... but by a very narrow margin.
Kansas was picked first in the Big 12 basketball coaches preseason hoops poll, barely edging No. 2 Texas. The Jayhawks earned six first-place votes and 78 total points; Texas managed three first-place votes and 74 total points.
The Jayhawks have won or shared the last 10 Big 12 regular-season championships. They have been picked to finish first 13 times in the 19-year history of the Big 12.
Oklahoma was picked to finish third, earning the final first-place vote. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their team.
Kansas State, meanwhile, was picked to finish fourth. The Wildcats return standout guard Marcus Foster and a collection of contributors from last year’s NCAA Tournament team.
