Sunrise Christian’s Scotty Middleton includes Kansas Jayhawks on list of five schools
Scotty Middleton, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound junior small forward recruit from Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, has narrowed his list of schools to five: Kansas, Texas A&M, UConn, Seton Hall and Ohio State, Joe Tipton of On3sports.com reported Thursday.
Middleton is ranked No. 19 in the college men’s basketball recruiting Class of 2023 by ESPN.com, No. 23 by On3.com, No. 42 by 247sports.com and No. 97 by Rivals.com. Middleton, according to 247sports.com, has taken official visits to Kansas State and Ohio State. He visited KU unofficially for the Kentucky game last January.
Originally from Miami, Middleton at one time had K-State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Xavier, DePaul, Penn State and Arizona State on his list.
“Scotty brings life and energy to every room he is in,” Sunrise Christian Academy head coach Luke Barnwell told Zagsblog.com. “He is skilled and has great feel for the game. Scotty is a willing passer and is key for us on the defensive end of the floor.”
“Scotty is a hard-working, attacking guard on both sides of the ball,” New York Rens AAU coach Andy Borman told Zagsblog.com. “He can play and guard multiple perimeter positions and players. He thrives in transition, but also has a consistent jump shot from three-point range. He is a high-upside player with his best basketball in front of him.”
Andrej Stojakovic has KU, K-State on his list
Andrej Stojakovic, a 6-7, 190-pound junior small forward from Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California, has been offered scholarships by Kansas, Kansas State, Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, Florida, UConn, Indiana, Washington State, Louisville, Cal, Stanford, Minnesota and USC according to recent Twitter posts of the Compton Magic AAU program.
Stojakovic, who is ranked No. 63 in the recruiting Class of 2023 by Rivals.com, No. 82 by 247sports.com and No. 97 by On3.com, is son of Peja Stojakovic, who played 16 years in the NBA.
Stojakovic received several scholarship offers after playing well in the recent Adidas 3SSB Circuit event in Indiana.
“After a monster weekend at the 3SSB, Stojakovic looks to be at least a top 50, if not a bit better, player in the junior class,” wrote Eric Bossi of 247sports.com as quoted by thedailyhoosier.com. “He shoots it. He has great size. He can finish with bounce and he’s a steely competitor,” Bossi added.
Stojakovic averaged 25.3 points (on 40% three-point shooting) and 9.3 rebounds per game his junior year at Jesuit High.
