Future University of Kansas guard Gradey Dick scores four points in Team USA victory
Future University of Kansas basketball guard Gradey Dick scored four points and grabbed four rebounds in Team USA’s 102-80 victory over Team World in the 2022 Nike Hoop Summit on Friday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
Dick, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound senior from Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, hit 1 of 5 shots. He was 1-of-2 from three and 1-of-2 from the line in 13 minutes. He also had two assists and a steal and no turnovers for the Team USA squad.
Team USA was led by Cam Whitmore, a 6-foot-6 future Villanova small forward who scored 19 points. Dariq Whitehead, a 6-6 future Duke small forward, scored 17 points while Kei’el Ware, a 7-0 future Oregon center, had 11 points. Amari Bailey, a 6-4 guard, who is headed to UCLA, and Nick Smith, a 6-4 guard, who is headed to Arkansas, had 10 points each.
The World team was led by Jean Montero, a 6-3 guard from Dominican Republic, headed to the 2022 NBA Draft, who had 23 points. Omaha Biliew, a 6-8 high school junior forward from Link Year Academy in Brandon, Missouri, chipped in 12 points for the World team.
The USA team hit 51.9% of its shots while holding the World team to 38.7%.
Dick is ranked No. 8 in the recruiting Class of 2022 by ESPN.com. He committed to KU on March 3, 2021 and signed a letter-of-intent with the Jayhawks in November 2021. The Wichita native chose KU over Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Purdue and others.
Dick, who attended Wichita Collegiate High School for two years and Sunrise Christian for two years, is Gatorade’s National boys basketball player of the year.
