Kansas Jayhawks drop one spot in this week’s Associated Press men’s basketball poll
Kansas, which lost to then-No. 10-ranked Baylor, 80-70, on Saturday in Waco, Texas after defeating Kansas State, 102-83 on Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse, has moved from No. 5 to No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press men’s college basketball poll.
Gonzaga (24-3) kept the top spot despite losing to Saint Mary’s, 67-57, on Saturday night. That’s because seven of the top nine teams in the poll (No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 Arizona, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Purdue, No. 5 KU, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 9 Texas Tech) lost on Saturday.
The top six teams in the AP poll lost on the same day for the first time in history.
Gonzaga received 46 first-place votes and tallied 1,504 points Monday. The other first-place votes went to new No. 3 Baylor (four, 1,342 points) and No. 4 Duke (11, 1,306 points).
