Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji was named co-Big 12 men’s basketball player of the week Monday, the league office announced.

Agbaji, a 6-foot-5 senior out of Oak Park High School, shared the honor with Iowa State guard Izaiah Brockington.

Agbaji, who has snared player of the week honors four times this season, scored 23 points in a 71-58 victory over West Virginia on Saturday night in Morgantown, West Virginia. He had 20 points in a 76-62 win over Oklahoma State on Monday in Lawrence.

Brockington averaged 21.0 points last week while leading the Cyclones to wins at TCU and at home against Oklahoma.

Agbaji remains contention for first-team All-America honors. He’s also in the running for the Naismith Trophy player of the year, Jerry West shooting guard of the year and the Wooden player of the year award.

This is the sixth Big 12 weekly honor for a Jayhawk during the 2021-22 season: Agbaji (Nov. 15, Jan. 17, Jan. 24, Feb. 21), guard Christian Braun (Dec. 6) and forward Jalen Wilson (Feb. 14) have been named player of the week once.

KU will meet Kansas State at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Allen Fieldhouse.
