Kansas’ men’s basketball team will begin a home-and-home series with Indiana starting next season, the two schools announced on Tuesday.

The Jayhawks will play host to the Hoosiers on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 at Allen Fieldhouse.

KU will return the trip the following season to Bloomington, Indiana for a game on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at Assembly Hall.

“We haven’t played Indiana in Lawrence since the mid-1990s,” KU coach Bill Self said Tuesday. “To be at Kansas and have Indiana on the schedule, two bluebloods going after it, will certainly be a game that has national interest.”

Kansas has 2,331 all-time victories, just three behind Kentucky on the all-time wins list. Indiana ranks 10th with 1,877 all-time wins.

This will be the third time that the two teams have scheduled a home-and-home series. Indiana leads the all-time series, 8-6.

“I’m extremely excited for our program to have the opportunity to play a home-and-home series against a team that is rich in tradition like the University of Kansas,” said Indiana coach Mike Woodson. “I think it’s wonderful for the players and coaches in both programs to play these games in such iconic buildings like Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and Allen Fieldhouse.”

Indiana won two of its five NCAA championships by defeating Kansas in the 1940 and 1953 title games. Both games were played at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

The Jayhawks have won six of the last eight matchups dating to Dec. 29, 1981. IU won the first six meetings from 1940 to 1974. In the last matchup in 2016, Indiana defeated Kansas 103-99 in overtime in the Armed Forces Classic in Honolulu.
