Udoka Azubuike, Devon Dotson voted second-team All-America by Associated Press

Kansas Jayhawks center Udoka Azubuike and guard Devon Dotson have been chosen second-team All-America by the Associated Press.

The two had been named first team by ESPN.com earlier in the week.

Members of the AP All-America first team were Iowa’s Luka Garza, Dayton’s Obi Toppin, Oregon’s Payton Pritchard, Seton Hall’s Myles Powell and Marquette’s Markus Howard.

Toppin was the only unanimous choice of the 65-person media panel.

Dotson, a sophomore, and Azubuike, a senior, were joined on the AP’s second team by Malachi Flynn, San Diego State; Cassius Winston, Michigan State; and Vernon Carey, Duke.

Dotson totaled 30 votes for first team and finished sixth in the voting overall with 237 points. He finished 22 points behind Pritchard, who edged him out for the final slot on the first team. Azubuike totaled 22 votes for first team and was seventh in the overall voting with 235 points.

The third team is made up of Filip Petrusev, Gonzaga; Jordan Nwora, Louisville; Jared Butler, Baylor; Tre Jones, Duk and Mason Jones, Arkansas.

Honorable mention went to Daniel Oturu, Minnesota; Immanuel Quickley, Kentucky; Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton; Saddiq Bey, Villanova and Mason Jones, Arkansas.

Four organizations who select All-America teams are used by the NCAA to determine consensus All-America status: The Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, National Association of Basketball Coaches and the Sporting News.

Of those four, the AP and Sporting News have released their All-America teams. The Sporting News had Dotson and Azubuike on the second team. Garza, Toppin, Pritchard, Howard and Powell were on the first team.

The Basketball Writers will release their All-America team Monday and NABC on Tuesday.
