KU football gets commitment from 5-foot-10 juco quarterback

The Kansas football team has added to its quarterback depth, picking up a commitment from Miles Kendrick of San Mateo (Calif.) junior college, JayhawkSlant.com reported Monday.

Kendrick, who visited KU over the weekend, is a three-star recruit according to Rivals. He told Jayhawk Slant that he plans to report to KU’s campus this semester so he can go through spring practices.

The dual-threat QB started nine games for San Mateo as a freshman, throwing for 18 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Kendrick, who is 5 feet 10, told Jayhawk Slant that his height has always been a talking point.

“People told me I should be a running back or a wide receiver and everyone has their opinions,” Kendrick said. “But that has motivated me to play quarterback like I have a boulder on my shoulder.”

Kendrick will likely compete for the starting job with Peyton Bender and Carter Stanley, who both return to KU after splitting time last season.
