ABOUT OMAHA (3-10): Omaha opened the season with seven straight losses — to Montana State (89-80, OT), Oklahoma (108-89), New Mexico (103-71), Louisville (87-78), TCU (99-66), Tennessee Tech (86-85) and Jackson State (75-73 OT). Omaha beat Drake (75-73), then lost to Washington (86-73), UC Santa Barbara (77-70) and Drake in a rematch (93-74). Omaha then beat Arkansas State (77-74) prior to Sunday’s 99-58 victory over Cornell College. … Omaha fell a game short of its first NCAA Tournament bid as a Division I team last season, losing 79-77 to South Dakota State in the Summit League championship game. The Mavericks were 18-14 (9-7 conference) en route to their second straight third-place finish in the regular-season standings. … Omaha returns seven letter winners from its 2016-17 squad, including a Summit League all-newcomer pick in junior forward Mitch Hahn. … Omaha will play 18 of its 30 games on the road this season. The Mavericks opened with seven straight on the road while its home facility, Baxter Arena, played host to the U.S. Olympic Curling Trials. … Coach Derrin Hansen is in his 13th year at Omaha, with a record of 200-176. … Omaha was picked to finish sixth out of eight teams in the 2017-18 Summit League preseason poll.
ABOUT KANSAS (8-2): This marks the first meeting between the schools. … Devonté Graham’s 18 points Saturday at Nebraska moved him past Steve Woodberry into No. 34 on KU’s all-time scoring list. Graham has 1,245 career points. … Graham’s eight assists gave him 427 for his career, moving him past Mario Chalmers (420) and Jeff Boschee (425) to 14th on the school’s all-time assists list. … Graham has made 22 of 44 threes in the last five games. In his first five games, he was 8 of 28. … Svi Mykhailiuk has cashed at least one three-pointer in 16 consecutive games. His two threes at Nebraska moved him into a tie with Kevin Pritchard at No. 14 on the school’s all-time list (154). … Mitch Lightfoot has had at least one blocked shot in eight of his 10 games. He blocked one shot at Nebraska. … KU is 36 of 42 (.857) from the free throw line in the last five games. … The Jayhawks have won 36 of their last 38 games dating to the start of last season when holding a lead heading into the game’s final 5 minutes.
