KU football team completes 2016, 2017 schedules
After canceling a home-and-home series with Hawaii, the Kansas football program has completed its non-conference schedules for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
The Jayhawks will now open the season with a home game against Rhode Island on Sept. 3, 2016. Kansas has also added a season-opening home game against Southeast Missouri State on Sept. 2, 2017. Both programs compete in the Football Championship Subdivision of Division I.
Kansas has never played Rhode Island in football. The Rams are coming off a 1-11 season, including a 1-7 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Jayhawks, meanwhile, opened the 2014 season against Southeast Missouri, notching a 34-28 victory.
