ABOUT OAKLAND (2-2): Oakland, from the Horizon League, has defeated Fort Wayne (85-71) and New Orleans (87-68) and lost at Toledo (87-74) and Syracuse (74-50). … Three-time all-league forward Jalen Hayes returns after serving a four-game suspension (academics). The redshirt senior averaged 15.9 points and 8.0 rebounds a game last season, with nine double-doubles. … Guards Kendrick Nunn and Martez Walker average 24.0 and 21.8 points per game, respectively. … The last time Oakland faced a team ranked in the top three was Dec. 22, 2015, at No.1 Michigan State (a 99-93 overtime loss). … Greg Kampe is 583-427 in 34 seasons as the Golden Grizzlies’ coach. Kampe had a health scare last summer. He was in intensive care for five days because of complications from kidney stones. “It’s important to go to the hospital. If I wouldn’t have gone to the hospital, I wouldn’t have made it,” Kampe told CBSsports.com, indicating he had uncontrollable shaking because of a rare complication of an infection called sepsis. “The only reason I’m still alive is because I went to the hospital.”
