Kansas running back Taylor Cox granted another year of eligibility
Kansas running back Taylor Cox has officially been granted a sixth year of eligibility, Kansas coach David Beaty said on Thursday.
Cox, a former junior college transfer, suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon before last season, his second straight season derailed by injury. Cox rushed 91 times for 464 yards during the 2012 season, but he used a medical redshirt in 2013 after being injured in Kansas’ first game.
“We’re thrilled about that, to get him back,” Beaty said. “It’s official, and I know he was unbelievably excited when the news came through.”
It’s good news for Kansas, which opened spring practice this week. The Jayhawks’ backfield includes sophomore Corey Avery, senior De’Andre Mann and junior college transfer Ke’aun Kinner.
