Miles Emery, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end from Blue Valley North, orally committed to the Kansas football team on Tuesday morning. Rivals.com’s No. 2 prospect in the state of Kansas adds to a 2018 Jayhawks recruiting class that ranks 19th nationally.

“It feels great to commit to KU,” Emery told Jon Kirby of JayhawkSlant.com. “This takes a lot of pressure off. Now I can focus on my senior season.”

Emery, a three-star prospect who also had offers from Oklahoma, Louisville and Iowa State, is ranked as Rivals’ 17th-best weakside defensive end. He also played basketball for Blue Valley North this past season, averaging 11 points and 6 rebounds while earning second-team all-league honors.

The addition of Emery brings KU’s 2018 class to 10 oral commitments, which includes one five-star, one four-star and seven three-star recruits.
