Seventh-seeded Kansas upsets No. 2 TCU 7-3 in Big 12 baseball opener

The seventh-seeded Kansas Jayhawks scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 3-all tie en route to a 7-3 victory Thursday in their opening game of the Big 12 baseball tournament in Oklahoma City.

Taylor Turski allowed two earned runs in 6  1/3 innings pitched with eight strikeouts for KU. Blake Weiman (5-1) earned the win in relief, striking out two batters and allowing one run in 1  2/3 innings.

Shortstop Matt Mclaughlin and right fielder Brett Vosik each went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Jayhawks.

KU will face either Oklahoma or Texas at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the double-elimination tournament.
