▪ ABOUT KANSAS (24-7, 13-5 Big 12): Kansas coach Bill Self is hopeful that junior forward Perry Ellis (knee sprain) will play Thursday after missing Saturday’s loss at Oklahoma. Self also said that sophomore guard Wayne Selden (ankle sprain) will play and sophomore wing Brannen Greene will return from a one-game suspension. The Jayhawks can cement their status as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament with a solid run at the Big 12 tourney. If the Jayhawks handle TCU, they will play the winner of No. 4 seed Baylor and No. 5 West Virginia at 6 p.m. Friday. Self can record his seventh Big 12 tournament title in 12 seasons with three victories this week.
▪ ABOUT TCU (18-14, 5-14 Big 12): The Horned Frogs are coming off their first Big 12 tournament victory after Wednesday night’s 67-65 victory over Kansas State. Chris Washburn and Kyan Anderson each finished with 16 points, burnishing the Horned Frogs’ case for an NIT bid. The Horned Frogs played Kansas close in Fort Worth, losing 64-61 on Jan. 28. The Jayhawks also notched an 81-72 victory in the rematch on Feb. 21. TCU entered the Big 12 tournament ranked 50th in defensive efficiency, according to KenPom.com. The Horned Frogs’ offense, meanwhile has struggled at times, ranking 95th in the country.
