KU’s Brannen Greene suspended for today’s game at Oklahoma
Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self expected to be short-handed on Saturday at Oklahoma. He may not have expected this.
Self revealed Saturday morning during a pregame radio interview that sophomore wing Brannen Greene was suspended for the game, which tips off at 3 p.m. on ESPN. Kansas was already expected to play without freshman forward Cliff Alexander (NCAA eligibility issue) and junior forward Perry Ellis (knee sprain). Self also said that sophomore Wayne Selden would be a game-time decision because of an ankle sprain but he took part in pregame warmups in uniform.
“We’ll be different,” Self told Bob Davis in a radio interview. “Cliff can’t travel because of the situation. Perry is actually doing well, but he’s obviously not going to suit. Brannen Greene has been suspended, so he’s not going to suit — just for being irresponsible.
“And then Wayne Selden — we’re going to make a decision whether he’ll play or not after our little pregame (shootaround). Yesterday, he probably could have played, but we couldn’t really tell, because he was sick.”
KU officials said Self would address Greene’s suspension following the game, which is the regular-season finale. KU opens Big 12 Tournament play Thursday in the quarterfinals at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
“We could be a little different look today,” Self said. “Hey, Devonte’ (Graham) and Svi (Mykhailiuk) are going to have great chances to play today to play great minutes.”
