Kansas offensive lineman Zach Fondal, a former junior college transfer, was not on the Jayhawks’ official fall football camp roster Thursday. After playing in four games last season, he was expected to compete for playing time at one of the tackle positions.
KU coach Charlie Weis declined to comment about players not on the roster.
In addition, Frank Seurer, a former Olathe South quarterback, is no longer with the program. Seurer played at Hutchinson Community College last season and was with the Jayhawks in the spring as a walk-on.
*According to Weis, two newcomers are expected late to fall camp. Freshman linebacker Josh Ehambe is working through an academic issue after attending Prime Prep Academy, an Arlington, Texas, high school that has faced closure. Meanwhile, junior-college transfer Damani Mosbi, listed at buck linebacker, is finishing up a final class before heading to Lawrence, Weis said.

*Junior middle linebacker Schyler Miles underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in July, Weis said, and will likely be “day to day” as practice begins on Friday. Miles is listed as a backup to senior Ben Heeney on the depth chart.
*While sophomore quarterback Montell Cozart was the expected No. 1 on the depth chart, Weis split the difference at the backup spot, listing junior Michael Cummings and sophomore T.J. Millweard as co-No. 2s.
*Sophomore kicker Matthew Wyman and true freshman kicker John Duvic will battle it out for field-goal duties; Wyman and Duvic were listed as co-No. 1s on the depth chart.
