Collin Sexton, a 6-foot-1 senior point guard from Pebblebrook High in Mableton, Ga., who is ranked No. 7 nationally by Rivals.com, on Thursday announced he’d be attending Alabama on basketball scholarship.

Sexton chose Alabama over Kansas, Oklahoma State, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and Georgia. He announced his choice on ESPNU’s Recruiting Nation: Basketball Signing Day Special. As part of his announcement he caught a basketball and spun it to show the Alabama logo.

“I felt coach Avery Johnson was a great coach,” Sexton said. “Everyone down there had great energy. Communication was great. They were on me for a long, long time.”

Kansas, which has three scholarships to give — and will have more if any non-seniors turn pro — has signed Marcus Garrett, a 6-5 combo guard from Dallas Skyline. Garrett is ranked No. 37 nationally by Rivals.com.

Other guards available who are considering KU include Trae Young, a 6-2 senior from Norman (Okla.) North, ranked No. 14 in the Class of 2017 by Rivals.com and Trevon Duval, 6-2 senior from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., who is ranked No. 3.
