KU’s Graham, Jackson, Mason on Naismith Trophy watch list
Kansas basketball players Frank Mason, Devonté Graham and Josh Jackson have been named to the Naismith Trophy men’s college player of the year preseason watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday.
In all, 50 players were named to the list. KU tied for the most players from one school with Duke, Kentucky and Wisconsin. The Wildcat players are Edrice (Bam) Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. The Blue Devils: Grayson Allen, Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum. The Badgers players: Ethan Happ, Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig.
Jackson was selected the 2016-17 preseason Big 12 freshman of the year, while Graham and Mason were preseason all-Big 12 picks.
A mid-season list of 30 candidates for the Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year will be released in early February.
Other members of the preseason watch list from the Big 12: Texas’ Jarrett Allen; Oklahoma State’s Jawun Evans; Iowa State’s Monte Morris; and Baylor’s Jonathan Motley. Indiana’s Thomas Bryant and James Blackmon were on the list.
