Kansas holding steady at No. 8 in AP men’s basketball poll
Despite losing to West Virginia, the Kansas men’s basketball team remained No. 8 for the fourth straight week in The Associated Press top 25 poll.
The Jayhawks lost to the Mountaineers 62-61 in Morgantown, W.Va., last Monday but followed that up with an 82-71 win against TCU on Saturday in Lawrence.
The top eight spots remained the same, but Utah’s loss to Oregon on Sunday dropped the Utes to No. 13. That allowed Notre Dame to move up to No. 9 and
Northern Iowa to enter the top 10 for the first time in program history.
The Panthers have a Missouri Valley Conference showdown on Saturday at No. 11 Wichita State.
Kentucky was the unanimous No. 1 for the fourth straight week.
The Wildcats (27-0) received all 65 first-place votes from a 65-member media panel Monday after routing Tennessee and Auburn last week.
Virginia remained No. 2, followed by Gonzaga, Duke, Wisconsin, Villanova and Arizona. It’s the first time the top seven have remained the same for six straight weeks since 1992-93.
San Diego State returned to the poll at No. 24, and No. 25 Providence was ranked for the first time since the final poll of 2003-04.
Ohio State and Oklahoma State dropped out.
