Kansas defensive tackle D.J. Williams has been dismissed from the football team for a violation of team rules, Jayhawks officials confirmed Thursday.

Williams, a 6-foot-5, 312-pound sophomore, started at tackle for the injured Daniel Wise in Saturday’s 24-23 loss to TCU at Memorial Stadium. He played in four games this season, posting three tackles with a tackle-for-loss.

A Lufkin, Texas native, Williams previously sat out KU’s season-opener against Rhode Island with what appeared to be a one-game suspension, as coach David Beaty made no mention of injury when he cleared Williams to play the next week.
