K-State’s B.J. Finney, Tyler Lockett, Jake Waters and Ryan Mueller on preseason awards lists
Kansas State’s Tyler Lockett, Jake Waters, Ryan Mueller and B.J. Finney have been chosen to watch lists for multiple college football awards.
Senior captains Lockett, Waters and Mueller are candidates for awards presented by the Maxwell Football Club. Lockett and Waters are up for the Maxwell Award, presented to the top player in college football, and Mueller is on the watch list for the Bednarik Award, given to the defensive player of the year.
Finney, a senior offensive lineman, is one of 66 players on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, presented annually to the nation’s top center, for a third straight season.
Lockett, a senior wide receiver, is also up for the Paul Hornung Award, given to the most versatile player in major college football. Lockett led the Big 12 with 154.92 all-purpose yards per game in 2013.
Waters threw for 2,469 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. Muller, a former walk-on from Leawood and St. Thomas Aquinas, tied the school record with 11 1/2 sacks in 2013.
