ABOUT KANSAS STATE (16-14, 5-12 in Big 12): The Wildcats are coming off their most complete victory of the season, a 79-54 triumph over TCU on Wednesday. Coach Bruce Weber thought enough of the win to proclaim K-State capable of beating anyone when it was over. That seems like a bit of an exaggeration, considering the Wildcats haven’t beaten anyone other than the Horned Frogs since Feb. 6. But they will carry confidence into the regular-season finale at Texas Tech. K-State made 57 percent of its shots against TCU. If that hot shooting continues, the Wildcats will have a shot at an upset in Lubbock.

ABOUT TEXAS TECH (18-11, 8-9): The Red Raiders are no longer the hottest team in the conference. A five-game winning streak against Iowa State, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and TCU was followed by losses at Kansas and West Virginia. But Texas Tech is still playing good basketball and appears on its way to the NCAA Tournament. A victory over K-State would likely end any chance of missing the Big Dance. The Red Raiders have been tough at home all season and have won four straight in Lubbock. Tubby Smith is a contender for Big 12 Coach of the Year. Remember, Texas Tech was picked last in the league’s preseason poll.
