▪ ABOUT KANSAS STATE (7-7, 0-1 Big 12): The Wildcats are off to their worst start in a decade. They haven’t sported a .500 record this late in the season since Jim Wooldridge was coach. They need a victory against TCU to avoid their first losing January record since 2002. Bruce Weber has struggled to find a consistent lineup in recent weeks. Leading scorer Marcus Foster spent most of the game on the bench against Oklahoma State and reserves were subbed in and out of the game. K-State hopes Nino Williams can regain his early form. After playing his best basketball, he has contributed little in back-to-back games.

▪ ABOUT TCU (13-1, 0-1 Big 12): The Horned Frogs are one of the nation’s most improved teams, starting 13-1 after a winless Big 12 campaign a year ago. TCU went 13-0 in nonconference play and briefly cracked the top 25. Its top victories came against Washington State, Mississippi State and Mississippi, but its early schedule was soft. It lost its opening conference game to West Virginia at home. In past seasons, point guard Kyan Anderson has been the team’s lone consistent scorer. This year, TCU has spread its scoring around. Anderson still leads the way, averaging 13.8 points, but seven players average 7.1 points or more.
