▪ ABOUT TEXAS SOUTHERN (2-9): Texas Southern has played a difficult schedule that has included 10 road games. Though it has struggled against strong competition such as Gonzaga, SMU and Florida, it does a have a victory over Michigan State. The Tigers beat the Spartans 71-64 in overtime on the road last week. Former Indiana coach Mike Davis coaches the Tigers.

▪ ABOUT KANSAS STATE (7-4): The Wildcats enter their game against Texas Southern coming off a full week of rest. They hope to build on the momentum of a three-game winning streak by winning their final two nonconference games. It might not be long before Nino Williams passes Marcus Foster as the team’s leading scorer. Williams is averaging 17 points over his past three games.
