Kansas State senior receiver Curry Sexton was chosen Thursday as an academic All-American.

Sexton was one of 50 players nationally to be named. With a 3.45 GPA, Sexton, a marketing and management major, is the 27th player in school history to receive academic All-America status and the first since Tysyn Hartman in 2011.

Sexton earned an undergraduate degree last year and is currently working on a second degree. He is a four-time academic All-Big 12 selection.

Sexton is also a contender for all-conference honors this year. He is in the midst of his best season, catching 67 passes for 940 yards and five touchdowns. Only six receivers in school history have topped 1,000 yards in a season.
