K-State notebook: Sophomore Wesley Iwundu makes his season debut

First Half

Key Play: Broderick Newbill hit a three to give UMKC at 26-15 lead midway through the first half.

Key Stat: UMKC made 53.3 percent of its shots.

Second Half

Key Play: Marcus Foster hit a three to give K-State a 48-46 lead with 15:58 remaining.

Key Stat: K-State made 68.2 percent of its shots.

Iwundu debuts

K-State sophomore Wesley Iwundu played in his first game of the season Monday, scoring three points and grabbing three rebounds in 24 minutes. Weber said the team’s trainer recommended playing Iwundu for about eight minutes, but Weber ignored that advice when he saw Iwundu playing well. Malek Harris and Nino Williams remained sidelined, but Weber said Williams could return against Long Beach State. He said Harris may play in Maui next week.
