What’s at stake
K-State is hoping to push its record to 4-0 for the first time since 2012 and get off to a good start in the Big 12. Oklahoma State is trying to further validate its early success with a 2-0 start in conference play.
Cheers if …
The Wildcats score on defense or special teams. They tend to do exactly that in big games, and it always gives them a chance on the road.
Jeers if …
K-State turns the ball over. Bill Snyder is a conservative coach and Mike Gundy is acting like one this year, too. The team that makes the least amount of mistakes will likely win.
Three things about Oklahoma State
1 For once, the Cowboys are known more for their defense than their offense. Oklahoma State is allowing 299.8 yards and 15.5 points. Coach Mike Gundy credited his defense for a 30-27 victory at Texas.
2 The Cowboys use two quarterbacks. Mason Rudolph is the starter, but J.W. Walsh has played in all four games. Walsh is primarily a running threat near the goal line, but he can throw, too.
3 Chris Carson is off to a strong start as Oklahoma State’s running back. He has rushed for 274 yards and three touchdowns. But keep an eye on Rennie Childs. He also runs the ball effectively.
Key matchup
Joe Hubener vs. Oklahoma State’s secondary: This will be Hubener’s first start in a road conference game. He needs to limit his mistakes against a secondary that has intercepted four passes this season.

Kellis Robinett’s pick: Oklahoma State 30-20
Oklahoma State’s offense may not be as powerful as it has been in recent years, but it is still averaging nearly 40 points. And its defense is strong. K-State’s offense may have trouble keeping up.
