Key play: Jake Waters found Tyler Lockett for a 70-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-7.
Key stat: K-State gained one first down.
Second quarter

Third quarter
Key play: Trevone Boykin leapt over a pair of defenders to finish a 19-yard touchdown run to give TCU a 24-7 lead.
Key stat: K-State rushed for 10 yards.
Fourth quarter
Key play: Joe Hubener scored on a six-yard touchdown run.
Key stat: The attendance within the stadium dropped by at least 20,000 with TCU well in the lead.
Player of the game: Trevone Boykin. The TCU quarterback eclipsed 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing.
Reason to hope: Bill Snyder said TCU is the best team K-State will face this season. If that’s true, trips to West Virginia and Baylor should go better than this trip to Fort Worth.
Reason to mope: This was just the beginning of a daunting closing schedule. K-State will need to bounce back if it hopes to stay in the Big 12 race with remaining games at West Virginia and Baylor.
Looking ahead: K-State gets a week off and then travels to West Virginia for a Thursday game. The Mountaineers lost to Texas on Saturday, but they are tough at home.

Report card
C | Offense | Jake Waters hit Tyler Lockett for some big gains, but the Wildcats were completely one-dimensional. They did nothing in the running game. |
F | Defense | TCU has one of the nation’s best offenses, but it gained yards far too easily against K-State’s defense, which looked a step slow. |
C | Special teams | It would have been interesting to see how the game played out had Lockett’s kickoff return for a touchdown late in the second half stood. But a holding penalty negated it. All the big plays in this area belonged to TCU. |
F | Coaching | Gary Patterson opened the game with a better strategy than Bill Snyder and made better adjustments at halftime. |
