Danzel McDaniel watched Saturday’s game from the sideline without a helmet for undisclosed reasons.

McDaniel started at cornerback all of last season and topped K-State’s depth chart at the position coming out of preseason practices, but Nate Jackson played in his place.

Boston Stiverson, K-State’s usual starting left guard, also dressed but did not play. He has been battling injuries. Terrale Johnson started in his place.

▪ K-State has returned a kickoff for a touchdown in 11 straight seasons, the longest active streak in college football.

▪ Chiefs general manager John Dorsey had a designated seat in the press box for Saturday’s game. A NFL representative was also on hand, but no scouts were present.
