• ABOUT KANSAS STATE (20-11):The Wildcats enter the Big 12 Tournament on a two-game losing streak. Their last victory came against Iowa State at home nearly two weeks ago. Marcus Foster has been the team’s top scorer all season, averaging 15.4 points. Thomas Gipson is K-State’s next best scorer. No one else averages in double figures. Shane Southwell has been in a slump for the last month, and the Wildcats could benefit from his resurgence. K-State has probably done enough to secure an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, but it could use some wins to secure a favorable seed.
• ABOUT IOWA STATE (23-7):The Cyclones finished fourth in the Big 12 standings, but they are the league’s second-highest ranked team behind Kansas at No. 16 in the AP poll. Melvin Ejim was chosen conference player of the year by the AP and the league’s coaches after averaging 18.2 points and 8.6 rebounds. The last time he played K-State, he had 30 points and 16 rebounds. Georges Niang and DeAndre Kane are Iowa State’s two other top players. They are both capable of scoring in bunches. Iowa State fans tend to travel well to Kansas City. The Cyclones should benefit from a split crowd.
