K-State women snap skid in conference opener

The Kansas State women ended a four-game losing streak and a 10-game road losing streak with a 72-65 win Tuesday over Texas Tech.

Leticia Romero led the Wildcats with 21 points, and Ashia Woods had 14.

The Wildcats jumped ahead with a 15-3 run that ended the first half and went into the break up 27-21.

Texas Tech fought back and trailed 42-39 with 12:21 left, but K-State went on an 8-2 run soon thereafter and went up 57-49 with 7:02 remaining.

Texas Tech pulled to within six, 66-60, with 52 seconds left, but the Wildcats made 10 of 11 free throws in the game’s final 5 minutes, preventing a Texas Tech comeback.
