Kansas State Wildcats land promising football recruit Tanner West out of Texas

Chris Klieman and the Kansas State football team hosted more than a dozen recruits on campus visits this weekend.

Bringing that many prospects together in Manhattan is already paying dividends for the Wildcats.

Tanner West, a 6-foot and 185-pound athlete from Katy, Texas, has announced his intentions to play for K-State next season.

The versatile playmaker can line up all over the field. Last season, he amassed 1,228 yards from scrimmage with 694 of them coming on the ground as a running back and 534 more coming through the air as a wide receiver. West finished the year with 13 touchdowns.

He chose K-State over several notable schools including Rice, Tulsa, Memphis, Kansas, SMU, New Mexico, San Diego State and others.

He is expected to play running back for the Wildcats.

West is the fifth known member of K-State’s recruiting class of 2026 along with Mill Valley offensive lineman LaMarcus Barber, Texas corner Brandon Ford, Oklahoma linebacker DJ Ackerson and Colorado offensive lineman Oliver Miller.
