K-State will join these notable basketball teams at Hall of Fame Classic in KC

The Kansas State men’s basketball team will join a group of notable opponents when the Wildcats travel to Kansas City in November and play in the Hall of Fame Classic at T-Mobile Center.

Mississippi State, Nebraska and New Mexico will compete against K-State in the four-team tournament, which will feature games on Nov. 20 and 21. The competition will follow a bracket format, with the semifinal winners playing for a trophy. The semifinal losers will face off for third place.

Matchups and game times will be announced at a later time.

Last season, the Hall of Fame Classic was a single-day competition, with Utah State defeating Iowa and Wichita State downing Saint Louis. The event will return to its traditional two-day, four-game setup this fall.

K-State last participated in the Hall of Fame Classic in 2021. The Wildcats finished in fourth place that year following losses to Arkansas and Illinois.

Nebraska was a member of the 2018 Hall of Fame Classic field. Mississippi State and New Mexico will each be competing in the event for the first time.

Mississippi State (21-13) and New Mexico (27-8) both reached the NCAA Tournament this past season.

Nebraska (21-14) won the inaugural College Basketball Crown tournament championship in Las Vegas.

K-State is looking to bounce back from its first losing season under head coach Jerome Tang.
