Kansas State basketball transfer Brendan Hausen will play in Big Ten next season
It didn’t take Brendan Hausen long to find a new college basketball team.
The former Kansas State guard has announced that he will transfer to Iowa and play for the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten next season under head coach Ben McCollum.
Hausen, a skilled shooter who made 90 shots from 3-point range with the Wildcats last season, decided to leave Manhattan and enter the transfer portal last week. More than a dozen high-profile schools reached out to him when he became a free agent, including the Kansas Jayhawks, but he ultimately chose to commit to Iowa.
As a junior, Hausen averaged 10.9 points and 2.5 rebounds during his lone season at K-State.
The native of Amarillo, Texas began his college basketball career at Villanova. He spent two seasons playing in the Big East and then one playing in the Big 12. He will finish out his final year of eligibility in yet another power conference.
Hausen got an up-close look at McCollum and what he can expect at Iowa during a game last season, when K-State played Drake in a non-conference game inside T-Mobile Arena in Kansas City. McCollum was coaching Drake at the time, and the Bulldogs pulled off a 73-70 victory over the Wildcats in overtime.
