Kansas State’s leading 3-point shooter will transfer after one year with Wildcats
The Kansas State men’s basketball team will have a new leader when it comes to 3-point shooting next season.
Brendan Hausen, a junior guard who drained 90 shots from beyond the arc for the Wildcats during the 2024-25 season, intends to enter the transfer portal and continue his college career elsewhere.
Hausen’s agent, Drew Kelso, shared that news with college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein on Monday.
K-State has now lost two players to the transfer portal since its season came to end with an overall record of 16-17.
The first was not a surprise. Most assumed that sophomore wing Macaleab Rich would enter the portal after he lost his spot in the K-State rotation midway through the year.
This feels different. Hausen’s departure was not expected. The native of Amarillo, Texas was coming off a solid year for the Wildcats in which he started all 33 games and made 38.8% of his shots from 3-point range.
Hausen averaged 10.9 points and 2.5 rebounds during his lone season in Manhattan. He spent his first two years of college basketball making 3-pointers at Villanova.
Fans quickly grew fond of Hausen for his ability to knock down open shots in a K-State basketball uniform. He made as many as six 3-pointers in games with the Wildcats. His best game of the season came during a road loss against St. John’s in which he scored 27 points.
His departure will give K-State coach Jerome Tang an extra scholarship to use as he works to rebuild his roster.
The Wildcats are set to lose at least David N’Guessan, Coleman Hawkins, Rich and Hausen from last year’s team.
