About Arizona State (12-14, 3-12 Big 12)

The Sun Devils are one of the coldest teams in the Big 12, as they are riding a six-game losing streak. Arizona State lost to Houston 80-65 in it last game. Bobby Hurley’s team took an early lead over Kansas State when these teams met earlier this month in Tempe, but the Wildcats escaped with a one-point victory thanks to a pair of missed free throws from Jayden Quaintance in the final seconds. The Sun Devils play strong defense at the 3-point line and also block plenty of shots. But their metrics are mediocre otherwise.

About Kansas State (13-13, 7-8 Big 12)

The Wildcats are coming off a pair of losses at BYU and Utah. They will look to start a winning streak on Sunday against Arizona State. K-State has been allowing teams to score almost at will from 2-point range in recent games. Kansas, Arizona, BYU and Utah combined to make 57% of their shots from within the arc. Coleman Hawkins has also been slumping of late, as he hasn’t scored more than seven points in his past three games. David N’Guessan and Brendan Hausen lead the team in scoring for the season.

K-State game prediction

This feels like a get-right game for Kansas State.

Not only will the Wildcats be playing at home, where they have won four straight, but they will be facing the coldest team in the Big 12.

Arizona State hasn’t won a game since Jan. 28 and the Sun Devils appear to be heading in the wrong direction as the regular season winds down.

Best of all, Arizona State doesn’t pose the same matchup problems that K-State encountered in recent losses against BYU and Utah. The Cougars and the Utes dominated the glass and hurt the Wildcats by making an avalanche of 2-pointers. Bobby Hurley’s team likes to score from the perimeter, as evidenced by the 37 shots it attempted from 3-point range against K-State earlier this season.

The Sun Devils made several outside shots at the beginning of that game and jumped out to a big lead. But the Wildcats came back to win.

K-State, which only allows teams to shoot 33% from the perimeter, will happily let Arizona State continue to bomb away from the 3-point line in the rematch.

This could a big game for David N’Guessan. The senior forward had 22 points and eight rebounds in the first game against Arizona State. Front court teammate Coleman Hawkins had 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds in that game. Perhaps he can also post some big numbers in the rematch.

In any case, I like K-State to win and cover at home.

K-State 77, Arizona State 67

Last game prediction: K-State 75, Utah 69

Actual score: Utah 74, K-State 69

Season record: 17-9

Season record ATS: 12-14

Season record O/U: 13-13
