Kansas State projected as host team in NCAA Tournament women’s basketball seed reveal

The Kansas State women’s basketball team is once again on track to host games at Bramlage Coliseum in the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats were projected as a No. 3 seed by the NCAA Tournament selection committee when it revealed its top 16 seeds on Sunday.

If March Madness began tomorrow, the Wildcats would be ranked 12th overall. That puts them in line for a No. 3 seed in the Spokane Region along with No. 1 seed Notre Dame, No. 2 seed Southern California and No. 4 seed Kentucky.

UCLA is the overall No. 1 seed.

For K-State, a No. 3 seed would come with an added bonus. That would put the Wildcats in position to host first-and-second round games in the NCAA Tournament. K-State was a No. 4 seed last season and played postseason games at home against Portland and Colorado.

The Wildcats couldn’t advance beyond the Round of 32 last season. More is expected of this group, as Jeff Mittie’s team is off to a 24-3 start. Serena Sundell has also led K-State to the top of the Big 12 standings at 12-2.

Ayoka Lee is expected to return from a foot injury in the near future, which means K-State will be at full strength for its final stretch of the regular season.

The Wildcats can expect a quality seed on Selection Sunday if they keep winning.
