Kansas State is losing one of its best wide receivers to the transfer portal.

Keagan Johnson, a junior who has spent the past two seasons in the starting lineup, has announced that he will transfer away from the Wildcats and continue his college football career elsewhere.

“Thank you Kansas State and the community of Manhattan for the overwhelming support during my time as a Wildcat,” Johnson wrote on social media. “I will forever cherish my time here, and I will keep these memories forever. With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”

Johnson bids farewell to K-State after catching 53 passes for 586 yards and three touchdowns over the past two seasons.

He will be missed by Chris Klieman and the K-State offense. Even though his overall stats weren’t impressive, he was one of the best perimeter blockers on the entire roster and a major contributor in the running game.

Johnson also put together some strong games in a purple uniform, such as when he made six catches for 76 yards and a touchdown against Houston this year and when he grabbed seven passes for 70 yards and a touchdown against Texas last year.

His stats could have also been better if not for injuries.

He will have one year of college eligibility remaining after beginning his career at Iowa.

K-State also recently lost freshman wide receiver Tre Spivey to the transfer portal. Adding players at that position will be a priority for Klieman and his coaching staff during the off-season.

Overall, more than a dozen K-State football players have decided to enter the transfer portal since the regular season came to an end. The Wildcats have added one incoming transfer thus far: Jordan Rowe, a 6-foot-2 and 221-pound defensive back who departed the Oklahoma Sooners.
