The Rose Bowl may be the granddaddy of them all, but everyone knows kids love Pop-Tarts.

And the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Thursday unveiled a mascot that may make a grandparent shake his or her head and wonder what’s wrong with this generation.

The Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot was birthed from a huge toaster* that was brought onto the field at Camping World Stadium ahead of the game between Kansas State and North Carolina State.

*Untoasted Pop-Tarts taste good, too

Take a look at the mascot.

Players from the winning team were able to take a bite out the Pop-Tart, which was expected to be frosted strawberry flavored. The thought of multiple players sharing a giant Pop-Tart might turn the stomach of a few hygiene-conscious fans, but hey, traditions don’t just happen overnight.

This is the first year of the Pop-Tarts Bowl, which in previous years had been named the Cheez-It Bowl, Camping World Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl, Mazda Tangerine Bowl, Visit Florida Tangerine Bowl, MicronPC.com Bowl, Carquest Bowl and Blockbuster Bowl.

None of them, however, had a toaster of any size on the field.

Once the game started, the mascot was living its best life, even if there was the prospect of being consumed later that night.

Kansas State won the game 28-19, so the Wildcats had the, uh, honor of eating the oversized Pop-Tart.
