Kansas State Wildcats remove defensive starter from depth chart ahead of Texas Tech

Injuries continue to be a problem for Kansas State on defense.

The Wildcats could be down as many as four key players on that side of the ball when they take the field against Texas Tech at 6 p.m on Saturday at AT&T Jones Stadium.

Based on the depth chart that K-State unveiled on Monday, they will likely be down at least three.

Will Lee, a 6-foot-3 sophomore cornerback who has started every game this season, was removed from the two-deep after he suffered an undisclosed injury in K-State’s last game at Oklahoma State. Lee was forced out of the game and unable to return.

It appears he will need more than a week to get healthy. When head coach Chris Klieman removes a player from the K-State depth chart it usually means he is out multiple weeks.

Lee has made 23 tackles and one interception this season.

Replacing him in the secondary won’t be easy, especially with fellow starter Jacob Parrish questionable to suit up against the Red Raiders. Parrish suffered an injury in practice last week and was unable to travel with K-State for the Oklahoma State game. Klieman described Parrish as “day-to-day” or “week-to-week” following the 29-21 loss and said it was unclear when he would be able to return.

Parrish is listed as a starter on the K-State depth chart, which means there is a chance he will play at Texas Tech. But the word “or” can be found next to his name, which means the Wildcats could also go with backup Justice James.

Keenan Garber is listed as the other starting cornerback and Jordan Wright is mentioned as his backup.

These injury developments come after K-State lost senior linebacker Daniel Green and reserve linebacker Asa Newsom for the season with injuries.
