Tylor Perry erupts for 33 points in Kansas State’s final game of exhibition tour
Tylor Perry and the Kansas State men’s basketball team went out with a bang during their final exhibition game of a summer trip to the Middle East.
K-State easily defeated United Arab Emirates Elite 112-72 on Friday in Abu Dhabi. It was a completely one-sided blowout in favor of the Wildcats in which 10 different players scored and five of them reached double figures.
There were plenty of strong efforts to go around for K-State, but Perry had the best of all.
Perry, a senior guard who transferred in from North Texas during the offseason, exploded for 33 points in just 18 minutes of action. He put on a shooting clinic by draining 9 of 11 attempts from 3-point range and three of four attempts from 2-point range.
Add it all up and he shot 80 percent from the field. Not too shabby.
His strong performance made it even more clear that Perry will be one of K-State’s best players next season. The point guard was brought in to replace departing star Markquis Nowell, and he already seems capable of filling a scoring void on this roster. He reached double figures in all three of K-State’s foreign games this month, averaging 22.6 points.
Interestingly, K-State coach Jerome Tang opted to bring Perry off the bench for his monster game against UAE Elite. That is unlikely to happen during the 2023-24 season, but maybe it is worth remembering if he ever encounters a slump with the Wildcats.
Other top performers on Friday were Cam Carter (20 points), Nae’Qwan Tomlin (15 points), Jerrell Colbert (12 points) and Dai Dai Ames (11 points).
The Wildcats went 2-1 during their summer trip to Israel and Abu Dhabi. They defeated Israel Select 94-87 and lost to Team Mexico 83-81.
K-State coaches and players will return to Manhattan on Sunday after spending nearly two weeks on foreign soil.
