Add another prestigious accolade to Deuce Vaughn’s college football resume.

The Kansas State running back has been named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press ... for the second straight season.

That is an extremely rare accomplishment — so much so, that Vaughn is the first K-State football player to receive that honor in back-to-back years since Chris Canty in 1994 and 1995.

But it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given how much Vaughn has done for the Wildcats over the past two seasons. The junior was once again honored as the nation’s best all-purpose player on Monday after helping K-State win a Big 12 championship by piling up 1,425 rushing yards and 378 receiving yards to go along with 11 overall touchdowns.

Vaughn was at his best in the Big 12 championship earlier this month, as he was named Most Outstanding Player of the game. He amassed 160 yards of offense and scored a touchdown against the TCU Horned Frogs.

He enters bowl season ranked 10th nationally and second in the Big 12 with 136.9 scrimmage yards per game.

Last season, Vaughn became the 11th player in K-State history to earn consensus All-American honors as an all-purpose player. Depending on how other media outlets vote this year, he could also duplicate that achievement.

Vaughn wasn’t the only K-State player who was honored by the AP on Monday.

Offensive lineman Cooper Beebe made the second-team and defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah found himself on the third team.
